Sister Ahmad, Community College of Philadelphia, English; Creative Writing

I grew up between the countryside of South Jersey in West Atco and North Philadelphia. Born a fourth generation Sunni-Muslim, I began Arabic and Quranic studies at the age of 3, where I fostered a love of culture and linguistics. Writing is my passion that informs and expands my other interests; music, travel, art and technology. I’m a creative engineer in the sense that whatever I aspire to do has a flare to it.

In 2016, I published a graphic autobiography which is the premise of The Process, a community radio program that I host and produce at Germantown Radio. Programming at The Process demonstrates the concept of healing and self-discovery through creativity and innovation. I’ve always been a lover of life and what it has to offer. I look forward to introducing my scholars to the principle that they are the forces to be reckoned with in their lives, and supporting them along the journey of discovering that for themselves.
