Dr. Hanna Sherrill grew up the daughter of two vegetarian hippies in Dallas, TX, where she was a theater major at Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, but her sophomore year she fell in love with biology. In college, Sis Hanna majored in Neuroscience and Italian Studies. She lived abroad in Italy for 1.5 years where she studied and worked in a lab in Milan. Sis. Hanna did her doctoral work in a laboratory at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda through a partnership program with Brown University. She studied the molecular and genetic factors important to the proper development of the vestibulocochlear nerve. While in DC, Sis. Hanna volunteered with the Washington Area Clinic Defense Task Force and taught GED science through the YWCA. She is the mother of a 1-year-old son, Ellis, and the wife of Dr. Adrian Bondy. She and her family relocated to Philadelphia in summer 2017. She's excited to be part of the Sankofa family.
