Sis Amanda 2B

Hello My Name Is...

Sister Amanda

a

Greetings to the families of our Kush Scholars,

I am very excited about the educational and cultural journey your children and I will be taking together this year!  As your scholar begins their quest for newfound knowledge within the second grade, you will watch them grow and discover their greatest potential!!  As a second grader, your child will be expected to assume certain responsibilities such as: being prepared for school every day,  completing all liberation work every evening, keeping the environment clean and organized, treating everyone in the Sankofa Family with love and respect (peers and elders), and doing their very best at all times!

I have a great deal in store for your child this year and I am very excited to work with him/her.  This year your child will:

  • Improve their writing skills

  • Read chapter books such as Frog and Toad and Junie B. Jones

  • Learn multiple digit addition and subtraction, counting money, fractions and much more.

  • Develop their scientific thinking and apply it to hands on science experiments

  • Research the history of the Frankford community for application of their SBA to HEKA project

  • Learn how to use Accelerated Reader and Study Island computerized programs

  • And much, much more!

I am looking forward to getting to know your child and working with you to help them succeed! I am committed to making the 2017-2018 academic year one of great growth, high expectations, exploration, transformation, love, and advancement in knowledge.  I am excited and looking forward to a fantastic year!

Peace and Blessings,

Sis Amanda,
