Continue working on your advocacy letters to Senator Casey.

Read for 20 minutes – Go to “Useful Inks” and read the Zulu Declaration in its entirety (Be sure to look up words you don’t know).  Then, re-read and analyze section 7.  Write a paragraph describing what section 8 means to you.  Try to connect section 8 to what is currently happening in various cities in the United States.  Use this sentence starter to begin your paragraph:   Section 8 of the Zulu Declaration means…..

10:30 – 11:30 – Social Studies

Read the article, “The Plight of African American Farmers”.  According to the article, “In 1910, black farmers owned 15 million acres of farmland; in 1982, black farmers owned 3.1 million acres of farmland…Today African Americans own less than 1 percent of American farms and there are under 18,000 African Americans still working the land for a living.”  What happened to African American Farmers?  Describe their plight.
