Math (9:30 - 11:00): Module 8 Lesson 15

 

Nia: SWBAT tell time to the nearest five minutes; relate a.m. and p.m. to the time of day.

 

  1. White board work with teacher

- Application Problem: TW write a word problem on the board for scholars to copy, CUBE, and find a solution.

- We will review telling time to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, and five minutes.

- TW discuss the meaning of a.m. and p.m. on a clock.

- Together we will look at pictures of people doing things throughout the day and decide if the time should be a.m. or p.m.

    Nia: SWBAT identify and discuss Harriet Tubman as a first responder for slaves and African American people.

     

  • *There is not a direct instruction video from Mama Angie today. Scholars are to copy the following questions in their science copybook and answer as they watch the short film about Harriet Tubman.
    1. Was Harriet born a slave or born free?
    2. When Harriet’s two sisters were taken away to be sold why didn’t her father fight for them?
    3. Why did Harriet have fainting spells?
    4. What was going to happen to Harriet that made her decide to run away?
    5. What is the Underground Railroad?
    6. Where did Harriet have to travel to in order to be free?
    7. What was the Fugitive Slave Act?
    8. How many slaves did Harriet save?

       

  • Not only did Harriet Tubman free slaves but she was also a nurse during the Civil War.

  • After watching the short film, and answering the questions you are to answer the following constructed response in your copybook. Remember to answer the question being asked in complete sentences, and use evidence from the film you watched.
